Charles S. Whelan, Jr.
President
As President and Principal Consultant of The Whelan Group, Mr. Whelan serves as a management and financial advisor to a broad range of educational, cultural, and social service organizations. In the course of his work, Mr. Whelan has helped hundreds of nonprofit organizations to shape a new or broader vision for their work, to strengthen their Boards, and to develop and implement creative strategies for growth. Mr. Whelan serves on the Board of several nonprofit organizations. He holds a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from Pratt Institute and a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of the Holy Cross.


Theresa A. Schieber, MBA
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
As VP & COO, Ms. Schieber directs implementation of the firm’s business strategy, manages operations, and leads new business development. She also advises a diverse portfolio of clients on growth strategy, financial planning and organizational development, and has managed capital fund raising projects totaling over $500 million. Prior to TWG, Ms. Schieber ran a nonprofit earned-income venture in professional development and training.  She is the Board President of the Tulane Alumni Association New York Chapter. Ms. Schieber has an MBA from Loyola University and a B.A. in History from Tulane University.


Melissa Litwin
Senior Consultant
Ms. Litwin brings over fifteen years of experience in museum and arts management to The Whelan Group. Prior to joining TWG she was the CFO and Interim Director of a prestigious contemporary art space. Her nonprofit experience includes managing fundraising projects, developing and running education and public programs, and generating earned income. She is a member of ArtTable, Women in Development, and AAM. Ms. Litwin holds a MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Psychology, from the University of Washington.


Kelly Dries
Associate Consultant
Ms. Dries joins The Whelan Group with six years of experience in corporate finance. She was an associate at JPMorgan in Syndicated and Leveraged Finance where she worked predominantly with the firm’s mid-corporate and middle market clients. She assisted in the origination, marketing, and execution of syndicated loans and high yield bonds for expansions, refinancings, and restructurings across a broad range of industries. Most recently, Ms. Dries worked as an intern for Common Ground Community, a nonprofit developer and property manager committed to ending homelessness. Ms. Dries holds a B.B.A. in Finance and B.A. in Spanish from The University of Notre Dame.


Matthew Slovitt
Associate Consultant
Mr. Slovitt comes to The Whelan Group with a strong corporate finance background.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Slovitt was an analyst at JPMorgan in its Syndicated and Leveraged Finance practice.  His work focused on arranging debt financed transactions in the technology, media and telecom industries.  Mr. Slovitt's primary responsibility was credit analysis, which involved financial modeling and preparation of investment materials.  Mr. Slovitt holds a B.A. in Biology and Economics from Williams College.


Joshua Kent
Office and Accounting Manager
Mr. Kent brings to the firm a strong background in accounting, human resources and administration and has worked in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations such as ACE Programs for the Homeless where he served as the Director of Finance and Human Resources; the Buhl Foundation where he was the Assistant to the President; and ASW Services a supply chain and logistics company.  At The Whelan Group, Mr. Kent supports all aspects of accounting, financial management and business operations. Mr. Kent holds a BA in English from Kent State University.


Megan Lyles
Executive Assistant to the President
Ms. Lyles comes to TWG from a diversified professional background including administrative and legal assisting in immigration law, commercial litigation and investment banking, as well as case management at nonprofits serving youth and seniors. She has published several personal and travel essays and continues to volunteer her time at nonprofits. Ms. Lyles holds a B.S. in Social Work from New York University.
